KEMUDA

What is KEMUDA?

KEMUDA is an abbreviation for the Kenya Methodist University Development Association.   KEMUDA is a United States tax exempt corporation devoted to assistance with development and scholarship programs exclusively at Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).  KEMUDA participates with KEMU through charter and a memorandum of understanding establishing a continuous connection and presence.

KEMUDA was formed at the beginning of development of KEMU by interested church members at Central United Protestant Church in Richland, Washington, USA.  KEMUDA members were a significant partner with the Methodist Church in Kenya (MCK) in providing initial funding for much of the physical presence of KEMU which we see today.

Today, KEMUDA members comprise interested individuals throughout United Methodist churches and interested individuals across the US.   Their interests include promotion and contributions for continued development of KEMU.  On an annual basis, 10 to 30 members and friends will visit directly with mission work teams at KEMU and the Meru community.  By the end of the year, at least four such teams will have visited and worked on KEMU projects during 2007.   Two teams will visit during the month of September.  KEMUDA and direct affiliates donate tens of thousands of US dollars every year to support the KEMU scholarship program.  Several KEMUDA members have been and are lecturers at KEMU, participating in the rich opportunities for learning at KEMU.

Further information is available at the KEMUDA website:  http://www.kemuda.org.
