Programmes Objective

The programme is designed to prepare students to:

  • Take up responsibilities in the dynamic hospitality industry as supervisors, cateress, cooks, waiters and housekeepers.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and professionalism that will enable them to pursue personal development in specific areas of interest.
  • Develop and carry out community programmes and take up leadership roles in their communities in order to lift their standards of living and the community at large.
  • Develop managers who will take up entrepreneurial roles in the country and provide employment not only to themselves but to others.

Admission requirements

Those seeking admission are required to have a minimum of C- in KCSE or its equivalent.

Duration of the Study

The programme is structured to take (3 semesters) each sixteen weeks or (2) academic years including practicum/ industrial attachment.
However, the period can be shortened to (1 yr  3mths) calendar years by registering for the three trimesters in a calendar year.

Intakes per year

The intakes for this programme are January, May and September for part-time and regular students. However, eligible students can apply for admission throughout the year.

The graduates will take up supervisory jobs, work as cooks, waiters, housekeepers in ; Hotels, Institutions such as schools, Universities, colleges and hospitals, in Transport catering such as marine, airline and railway.
