This past Friday (17th May, 2013), saw the Faculty of Computing and Informatics hold a very successful Computer Science Open Day at our Main Campus (Meru), during which the faculty's students displayed their projects in several different categories (Hardware, Mobile Applications, Desktop Applications, Web Applications, Networking, and creative works. All the displays were impressive and are evidence of the great talent pool that we have in our students.
Such events as these are instrumental in nurturing our students talents and we should plan for more to further develop our students in their respective disciplines.
The Guest Speaker of the event was Mr. Andrew Lewela (Project Manager BPO/ITES) of the Kenya ICT Board. His message was both encouraging and inspiring to the students and we are sure all participants left with some valuable nuggets of information.
This year the event attained a higher profile than last year as not just KeMU participated. Other universities and a few of the surrounding schools had been invited as well. Meru University for Science and Technology did an excellent job and even managed to win an award. Next year it is anticipated that there will more participants to include High Schools in the competition.
Congratulations to the Dean, Dr. Salesio Kiura and Mrs. Jane Jenu (CoD), as well as the rest of the faculty team for making the event a success.
