The Directorate of Research and Development (R&D) is a service Department within Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) that supports and provides services and facilitates all research and development activities of the University. Building on the past and current achievements of KeMU, as well as to advance the University Mission and Vision, the Directorate of R&D was officially established in May 2010. As clearly stipulated in the University Charter and Statutes, Statute XV1.3, the Dean, R&D is responsible for the development of policies and procedures of the Directorate. Mandate of R&DThe mandates of the Directorate of Research and Development include: - To develop a research policy for the university and ensure its approval by the Senate and subsequent implementation
- Development of a research culture in the university
- Coordination of provision of skills in grant proposal writing to academic staff
- Provision of assistance to schools and faculties on writing competitive proposals
- Coordination of the University’s internal research funding
- Working out modalities of implementing externally funded proposals
- Co-ordinate community-based and collaborative programmes
- Oversee the development of research centres and training institutes
- Coordinate partnerships
- Coordinate technology development and transfer
- Be responsible for research publications
