Students’ Work Study Program

In addition to ensuring a conducive learning environment and facilitating wholesome development for the students, the department is also mandated to coordinate the Students’ Work Study Program, thus offering financial assistance to needy students.

Preamble & Definition

The university recognizes the value of assisting bright but financially constrained students through assistantships. As a result, there shall be a Students’ Work Study Program organized and financed by KeMU.

The Students’ Work Study Program is designed to offer educational assistantship to bright but financially strapped students of KeMU, in an attempt to help them finance their education.

A Word of Counsel from the Dean of Students

Student assistantship is not a new phenomenon in universities, the world over. There are many learned people who can testify to this assertion, because they are beneficiaries of such programs. However, it is important that you:

  • Develop a positive attitude towards work, and especially if it falls in the category considered by many as chores for the uneducated. Do not feel embarrassed if you have to do such jobs. Remember, necessity is the mother of invention.
  • Understand that assistantships are for those who truly deserve financial assistance, and not a way to earn a quick buck for social escapades.
  • Let your application be need and conscience driven.
  • Show initiative and creativity in your assigned duties.
  • Your dress code should be an extension of your personal pride and fall within the values of KeMU.
