Kenya Methodist University has partnered with the Regional Pastoralists Peace Link (RPPL) to launch the KeMU cluster of the Community Policing Initiative, an effort aimed at strengthening security and nurturing a mutually beneficial relationship between the university and its neighboring community by bringing together all the stakeholders.
The engagement was led by Dr. Evans Mwiti, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics & Student Affairs), who steered discussions on setting up clear modalities for engagement and sustainability alongside Ms. Abdia Mohamud, the Executive Director(RPPL). He was joined by Prof. Ken Mugambi, Dean of the School of Economics and Political Science, Mr. Hillary Mukasa from the Student Welfare office and student representatives.
The delegation from RPPL was led by Ms. Abdia Mohamud, the Executive Director(RPPL) and a proud student in the Department of Criminology and Security Management at KeMU. She was accompanied by: Chief Inspector Julius Mutabari – Peace Cops & PCVE Coordinator, Upper Eastern; Ahmed Barre – Project Officer, RPPL, and Eric Muthomi – Project Officer, RPPL.
This partnership marks a significant step toward community driven solutions for a safe and secure community.
