“On behalf of the Department of Education and the School of Education and Social Sciences (SESS) in general, I wish to welcome you to KeMU and to the School of Education and Social Sciences where the Department of Education is housed. I joined KeMU in 2008 and have served as a lecturer, Coordinator Department of Education and Counseling and from January 2022 I have been serving as the Coordinator, SESS at the KeMU Mombasa Campus. We are committed to raising Transformational leaders, Educationists and Counseling Psychologists who are ready to be change agents in their communities and the world scene at large” – Mr. Benjamin Mwandoe

Biography

Mr. Benjamin Mwandoe Mwawasi is a lecturer in the Department of Education, with interest in Curriculum Design and Development, Education Leadership and Management, Counseling Psychology, Education in Emergencies: Principles, Educational Psychology and Linguistics.

His passion is on Curriculum Design and Development, Educational Leadership and Management and dealing with education in emergency situations, especially in disadvantaged communities. On matter of training, Mr. Mwawasi`s desire is to see accomplished educators who will become educational leaders and Counseling Psychologists after the successful completion of their programs in KeMU.

Mr. Mwawasi has been involved in training educators, education leadership mentoring, and teaching practice assessments for the last 13 years. Mr. Mwawasi has been involved in community service whereby he has served in various school boards of Management (BoM) as the Chair of the BoM of Mwakichuchu Boys High School, Member of the BoM of Kajire Girls High School and Member of the BoM Kizumanzi Secondary School. He is also involved in Church leadership in which case he has served as the Vicar`s Warden at the St. Joseph of Nazareth ACK Church -Alidina, is the Secretary to Waumini Welfare and Investment Group (A church Welfare Group) and also served as the Secretary to the Development Committee of the St. Joseph of Nazareth ACK Church. Mr. Mwawasi is also a member of the Parish Church Council (PCC) of this church.

 Additionally, Mr. Benjamin Mwawasi is a member of KEMUSWA which is involved in reaching out to KeMU staff in times of distress and in times of joy. He is also an active member of the Ungaro Kaya Ungaro Kireti (UKUK) CBO which is involved in community development in Sagalla Location of Voi Sub County
