KeMU HOLDS September 2025 MATRICULATION CEREMONY AT THE MAIN CAMPUS, MERU.

Kenya Methodist University (KeMU), Tuesday, 16th September 2025, held the Matriculation Ceremony for the September 2025 intake of fresh men and women at the Main Campus, Meru. The ceremony marked an important milestone in the life of our new students as they officially joined the KeMU academic community, committing themselves to a journey of faith, purpose and excellence.

Prayer and Dedication

In a moment of prayer and reflection, the new students gathered in the chapel, dedicating their academic journey to God. The University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Jeniffer Lairang’i, led a prayer, committing their studies to the Lord, drawing inspiration from Scripture:

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

The Vice Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Kobia Ataya, PhD,  who was also the chief speaker of the day, warmly welcomed the new students, describing the day as the beginning of a transformative journey. He encouraged them to embrace new beginnings, approach the new norm with an open mind, remain focused and leave a lasting mark.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Evans Mwiti,PhD, urged the new students to embrace hard work and innovation as guiding principles throughout their studies at KeMU.

The Registrar Academic Affairs, Dr. Lucy Ikiara,PhD, reminded the students of the importance of integrity, academic commitment and making the best use of the opportunities provided by the university.

The Dean of Students, Dr. Esther Mbaabu,PhD, welcomed the class with words of encouragement, assuring them of support in their personal and academic development.

In an engaging session with faculty members, the new students were introduced to their respective schools. Faculty members extended mentorship and guidance, affirming KeMU’s dedication to providing a holistic education.

This year’s matriculation reflected diversity at its best, with students drawn from different nationalities, faiths and cultures. Among the new class were students from across Kenya and beyond, including South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Nigeria.

Sharing their excitement and aspirations, the freshmen and women expressed confidence in their choice of KeMU:

“I chose KeMU because it feels like home.”

Their stories of hope, ambition, and inspiration gave the ceremony a special and memorable touch.

As the September 2025 intake officially begins their journey, KeMU reaffirms its commitment to nurturing academic excellence, personal growth and community values. The Matriculation Ceremony not only welcomed the new class but also strengthened the institutional identity of KeMU as a center of faith, innovation, and transformation.
